Amazing Art Display Autumn Term

This term, Year 3 incorporated their Artwork into their Egyptian topic. To start, the children moulded clay to form a cartouche shape (an ornate frame around a design or inscription). Then they built on the previous skill of learning to write their name in hieroglyphics, to imprint them onto the cartouche. To finish the project, the children painted their designs and used gold paint to create a wow factor!

Year 4 have been busy this term creating mosaics as part of their History topic on the Romans. Making these required careful planning and provided a great opportunity to develop and improve cutting skills. Once created, the mosaics were incorporated into the design and technology project currently being worked on, and were used as the decoration on top of a cake stand.

At the start of the term, Year 5 enjoyed developing their use of using watercolours. The children started by learning how to mix lighter and darker shades. This developed further, to mixing and blending watercolours to create a beautiful sunset. The effect and the colours chosen were amazing, well done Year 5. In the second half of the term, Year 5, alongside all other classes in the Federation, created Artwork for Dereham Windmill. The children created striking pictures using pearl coloured paints and strong lines.

Year 6 have been working on an exciting project this term entitled People in Action. It has given children an opportunity to develop their drawing skills through using ovals to draw figures. This progressed further, when the children had the opportunity to sketch a realistic moving figure using the skills they had previously learnt. By evaluating their work, the children could reflect on what worked well and could consider how their work could be improved in the future. This led to the children creating a moving figure sculpture out of aluminium foil. The results are impressive! Congratulations to all the children who have had their work chosen for the display board, you have produced some amazing work this term.
